THIS IS a one-of-a-kind custom machine created by one of Australia’s best bike builders, Wenley Andrews. A collaboration between Triumph, Pipeburn, Stories of Bike and Wenley, it was build in just eight short weeks. Wenley put a massive amount of work into the build in the short time he had, turning the stock Thruxton R into a sleek and refined cafe racer. One of the main features is the shaped fibreglass seat hand-made by Wenley in 10 days of sanding, sculpting and finessing.
The upholstery was handled by the clever folks at Sydney Moto Trimmers using premium Alcantara with stitching matched to the paint scheme.
The frame was smoothed out and de-tabbed with the swingarm powder-coated to better match the frame’s finish, while the rear Ohlins shocks have had their springs finished in black with flexible plasticised paint.
The paint work applied by Smith Concepts is a direct reference to the Selenite Grey with Yellow accents seen on the latest AMG Mercedes.
The sprocket cover was changed out for a custom CNC’d piece, while the other little details include the Motogadget analogue speedo sitting neatly behind the repurposed Harley-Davidson front cowling, the m-Blaze turn signals to the end of the bars and a pair of stunning velocity stacks that peak out each side.
The highlight of this build has to be the exhaust. Removing the stock 1960s styled pipes and fitting a modern, hand-welded system build especially for this project, it snakes its way through the frame and exits with mean twin pipes underneath the seat leaving no room for the stock air-box or even room to fit pod filters to the carby-look EFI system.
