Playing Poker for Charity in the ACT
DESPITE the media hype and hysteria motorcycle clubs are still out there doing their bit and fundraising for others less fortunate and many worthy causes. On October 29th the Veterans MC Federal Chapter hosted its Tour Duty Poker Run and Rolling Bike Show sponsored by Icon Water.
This year’s run was in aid of the Domestic Violence Crisis Service ACT and the Canberra and Queanbeyan Hospitals Veterans Rehabilitation. Thanks to the businesses that sponsored and donated goods for the raffles on the day and people who turned and registered several thousand dollars was raised to assist.
The run started at the Murrumbateman Country Inn and finished at the Eaglehawk Pub, with 130 registrations and around 40 VMC members taking part it was an impressive sight around southern NSW on a Saturday.
None of these events take place without a lot of work from people in the background doing the hard yards and the great sponsors who give something to make it happen. Veterans MC member Spaz was the key organiser for the club and the feedback on the run has been great with many riders already setting aside time for the next year’s run.
To get info out about these events after the fact we need to put a few words together and then we need the all-important pictures. I am not the best photographer in the world, me and my trusty iPhone, just ask Skol… so this time, for your enjoyment, the pictures are by East Timor Veteran and long-time supporter of the Veterans MC, Shea Jost.
