Love to See My Old Harley-Davidson
G’DAY — Please find attached some photos of my old custom Harley-Davidson. I pieced it together when I was a helicopter mechanic in the Army. I sold it to a bloke in Brisbane in 2018; would love to see where it is now!
It was a 1991 FXSTC; looked and ran like a proper bag of shit when I bought it from a mate. I went through the whole bike and renewed and replaced wiring, gaskets and anything that needed some love.
It ran a DynaTek ignition, an Andrews EV27 cam (perfect for low-end torque and high-end horsepower), S&S barrels and tear-drop air cleaner, Wiseco pistons, and some other good bits and pieces including big tanks, Fournales suspension and Acewell speedometer.
Jeff Marshall (Capalaba, Qld) helped me get the bike to the best mechanical condition she could be, and ended up running 95 hp on a dyno (65 hp from factory).
The incredible paintwork was laid down by Mick Kosenko (littlemickkosenko — Instagram) in Brendale, Qld. I have not seen a paint job quite like it since! He based the colours on the OEM paint scheme of my dad’s 1981 FXDL (out of HD Development in Melbourne, Vic).
I am now riding a 2024 Breakout done in a similar style — although the M8 has a tad more poke — 117 ci compared to 93 ci.
Cheers,
