Honey and the Billy Bike
TODAY’S photoshoot was great fun; I really enjoyed it. I’ve never modelled on a motorbike before so it was a fantastic experience. I have been on bikes at my grandma’s farm, and when I was a kid, I would get on the back of dad’s dirt bike. I would jump on little mowers too but nothing big and complex like this bike.
I did some modelling when I was a kid but I also loved photography and attended a photography course. I had this idea of what I wanted to construct, photographically speaking, but no one could really create it so I thought, that’s it, I’m going to do it myself. As it turned out, I liked being on this side of the camera more than behind it.
My experience since has mainly been in commercial projects because, apparently, I have a fantastic smile. I’m now trying to move more towards editorial and fashion.
I’ve done some underwater shoots but they’re a bit more difficult to do. They entail staying fully clothed and going under water, and it’s usually still a fashion shoot. You have to hold your breath, go a meter below the surface and do a heap of creepy poses before coming up for air again; it’s a big process. Some are done in the ocean where you get an air tank but you still have to take it off to pose.
I used to be a national speed skater until I began focusing more on my studies and university. I still do photography as a hobby as well; I love portraiture and catching edgy moments.
