Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Update
G’DAY Skol — Here’s an update of the recent changes made to my old 1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Custom which was previously covered by Ozbike (Harley-Davidson Shovelhead in Progress).
I have owned the Shovelhead Custom since 2012. Last year it had a pretty major change up: Pissed off the old king Sporty tank for a set of 3.5 gallon splits, early three-light dash, new front wheel speedo drive (finally have a functional speedo), new chrome headlight, total re-wire, relocated front indicators, frame crack at top of seat post was repaired, a Yost power-tube for the S&S carby plus a new K&N element, new Sonic (Outer Cycle) two-into-one SuperTrapp style exhaust system, re-jet & road tune, rear wheel re-laced with fresh Pirelli rubber, a gloss black paint job, early Shovel tank badges and few other bits & bobs…
She’s come up an absolute treat and running beautifully. Couldn’t be happier with how she’s turned out, and to top it off, my mate, Rano (I.M.C) who rebuilt the motor for me back in 2012 when I first bought it, was the one to do the work and give her a good going over like he used to when I first got her. I can’t thank you enough mate and it was great to hang out with you.
A big thanks also goes out to Bretta (I.M.C) for the fresh paint job, Jimmy Sonic (Outer Cycle) for the custom exhaust, Colt at H.D Development, R.J at CnC Cycle Works, and Chris Wells at Antique Motorcycles.
